Data Conformity

Data conformity was one of the enabling capabilities, identified at NAVA’s Strategy Summit on straight-through processing of annuities, which needed to be addressed by the industry. In August 2004, the NAVA Data Conformity Working Group was formed. This group of more than 40 companies agreed to develop recommended industry standards for (1) CUSIP assignment, (2) Fund Level identifiers, and (3) Service Features identifiers.

In early February 2005, the group published a white paper entitled, Product Fund Identifiers and Associating Underlying Funds, on a recommended industry standard for product fund identifiers. In October, the working group published a second white paper, Recommended Industry Standard for Product CUSIP. The recommendations of this working group have been endorsed by both the SIA and the NAVA communities.
